The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (or SuperNES) is a 16bit console released by Nintendo in 1990. As a contemporary of the ST Family, Megadrive, and Amiga 500, a number of the games developed for this system were ported to the ST and other platforms of the era, and the games made for these machines were often reported on in the same gaming_magazines.

The console market dominated by the Super Nintendo and Megadrive was the one Atari attempted to enter with the release of the Jaguar in 1993.
