Re: Falcon repair advice needed

Also, on the left front Rev letter. Can you post some close up photos of the solder pad where the resistors are located as in the photo I included. Also the area just left of the ST RAM card, where either the PAL or NTSC clock is located. Also a photo of the inside where the video connector is. Shou...

Re: Falcon repair advice needed

Yes, talking about the lower shield the motherboard sets in. Unless you need access to the bottom of the board, it's a warm fuzzy to have it in place. Maybe take some soldering wick and reattach the "old" leads. Those take a bit of heat as they are tied to the grounding plane of the motherboard. If ...

Re: Falcon repair advice needed

Slow down a bit, set the CT aside for now. Everyone here will help going step by step. I'm the same as you, years of handling Falcons, no electronic background. At one time had 14 up and running, so seen my share. Reason for soanu questions is to get a starting/reference point.

And, for kicks, stay away from using RF out. Not that it doesn't work, just eliminates yet another link in the troubleshooting process.

Re: Falcon repair advice needed

So....anyway, here's a link to photos showing "this" Falcon, performing the memory check, and finally getting to the TOS ROM desktop with no floppy, hard disk or keyboard connected. The NVRAM battery is also long dead. And as mfro said, the grounding is important, and the lower shield is the easiest...

Re: new Nova drivers

Without going back too far in the thread, you need to edit the XaAES.cnf file. Load it in QED, search for "video". There you will find an area of the file where various setting are (Abit confusing for me) available. Tried to make sense of it, having a Super Videl made it easier, I used it's setup fe...

Re: Does mintsett.acc to freeze a system (or at least CT60) if left running as an accessory under TOS?

Thanks. I'm a hard student, but learning :) For reference, had been going back to an old back up CD from 2000 or so. Obviously, lot of that setup is dated. Have 3 back up image drives now, making changes is much less thrilling. Realize the MiNT builds are now pretty much drag on, copy a few files an...

Re: Does mintsett.acc to freeze a system (or at least CT60) if left running as an accessory under TOS?

Yes, for example here: https://github.com/ggnkua/Atari_ST_Sources/tree/master/GFA%20Basic/Kellis/MINTSETT Don't know about the version, though, i never used it Once again, thank you. Followed the GitHub link and read the docs. Reading the revision history, and features, I'm thinking this in no way ...

Re: Does mintsett.acc to freeze a system (or at least CT60) if left running as an accessory under TOS?

Yes, there's a smiley face after the KELLIS statement, and again :) That's been how long ago, since your Hades was running? Some years for sure. I'm happy that it does what I need, now knowing how it's better used. It makes clear MP status, since the naming convention "mintnp" use has long since bee...

Re: How to install FreeMiNT - simple step by step guide

A question I'm dying to ask, for some reason I'm strongly attached to XCONTROL.ACC. Is COPS "promoted" in these releases because of the GNU thing, and the latter an Atari application? COPS isn't "promoted" by the FreeMiNT team, its just that it can be supported and legally distributed (contrary to ...

Re: Does mintsett.acc to freeze a system (or at least CT60) if left running as an accessory under TOS?

Just run it as a PRG now, and note the incompatibility. Don't really use it except to check if MP is enabled or not.
Have to ask KELLIS about it :)

Re: How to install FreeMiNT - simple step by step guide

Shows up at "F32.DAT". I've not seen it before. is that a text file? can you view the contents? Embarrassed :) It's a data file for a demo I'd somehow extracted to root. I've not yet installed the most recent MiNT build. Maybe 3 behind. As I'm also reliving old software installations (ex: Ease), if...

Re: Falcon repair advice needed

I'm still up in arms over a dead NVRAM causing a machine not to boot. Don't disagree, just with the Falcons here, the batteries have been depleted for so long, never related it. Since I'm a late comer to working with the CT60 and SV, many of the situations have just not come across. My first task is...

Re: [Wanted] Falcon Video Cards

I have Eclipse in unidentified state. I have no cables for it (I'm not sure), I didn't manage to launch it anyway it, at some point I even returned it to BSS, they didn't help me at all and didn't want to return money. I can sell it, because I don't need it anymore. Almost too good to pass up for t...

Re: Convert HTML to HYP (ST-Guide)?

Not proficient at this. Could an "Atari" specific site be developed using ST-Guide files with links to graphic/file subdirectory on a server/page? If using a hosting service, does it enforce some kind of connection protocol? Seems a lot of the slow down with Netsurf and Highwire is processing HTML. ...

Re: [Wanted] Falcon Video Cards

Are/is there anyone using a NOVA/ATI on a Falcon without an accelerator? Have a spare Magnum card. It will help with a bit more memory. Came out of a working machine, removed the 8mb module (and too ignorant to figure out which one it is out of a box of 20) and am not to set up to test now, sure it ...

In mint.cnf, I placed C: as new fat.

Re: How to install FreeMiNT - simple step by step guide

The alert is from the FATFS driver. I guess your filesystem is corrupted. Thanks Thorsten. Wipped C: and pulled my boot C backup onto the partition, all is fine. There was a file created I think when following Wongck's guide to format the ext2 and F32 partitions. Shows up at "F32.DAT". I've not see...

Re: Arduino USB keyboard adapter ?

I "think" I made some hand notes connecting a PC keyboard to the Milan, if you haven't gotten that far can dig them out. Forget who warned me about hot swapping Milan keyboards, but did so at one point. It's not fused, with a very tiny trace that burned. I jumped it with a fuse after that mishap. Ju...

Re: Falcon030 - What is this Mod on U19?

The SDMA CLKIN trace makes a sharp dog leg turn around L66. Not seen an F0X IC there before. One of the tricks back in the Mighty Sonic/Afterburner days was to cut the trace and install a small loop wire around the dog leg. Like Stormy recommends, install one of those available patches and go from t...

Re: Problems with my TT SCSI and Floppy

Think you can find the old, but more friendly version of software to setup NVRAM on the HD Driver support site. AFAIK, Atari computers are always to be SCSI ID 7, and never an attached device to use this ID. I'm using a SCSI2SDV6F in a Falcon, it seems using the configuration software to enable term...
