Re: BeePi 1.1.b

With the firebee it’s even more complicated as disk D will become corrupted with time, so you need a dirty trick to have easymint working. What do you mean? Disk D will be corrupted on the firebee? I was not clear. Drive D is the ext2 partition with EasyMint, and it tends to become corrupted with t...

My Falcon has a CT60 + CTPCI. I had a major issue (dead Videl) several years ago and I just go it back fixed. I have not tested it yet.

Re: BeePi 1.1.b

Note: was wondering if this wonderful desktop and the whole setup could be used in real hardware and what would be needed to run it. Yes, but you almost have to rebuild all the system by hand. I did it on my falcon. With the firebee it’s even more complicated as disk D will become corrupted with ti...

Re: BeePi 1.1.b

Hi Dylan, With BeePi by default you can only mount 1 shared volume at a time. If you want several volumes to be mounted, you need to edit the file in /h/.system/smbmount.sh. You will also need to create sub folder in /h/Network and mount each volume in its respective folder To setup the smb share : ...

Re: Thing registration weirdness

Thing 1.27 works well with BeePi, but BeePi use an old version of Aranym (1.02 commit 7373ac9) which is the last version of Aranym to work correctly on RPi . I wonder if you are using a recent version of Aranym for RPi.

- I get lags and slow downs especially when it comes to starting a new app, access a disk and the likes and when it comes to "VGA" intensive actions (res set at 1280x1024 and video ram at 256MB) like having many windows open. - Also Kronos could not figure out the CPU and if FPU exists. Re: BeePi 1.1.b

Question: Is it possible to browse using Atari browsers? Do they support SSL and the new protocols? Taking advantage of the modern, strong hardware that BeePi and BeeKey runs on would mean that speed-wise it is possible but do the browsers support it? Yes it works in theory, not for every site, but...

Re: Recommended hardware for Aranym in 2021?

It's a complete machine: HP Elite 800 G1 Tower - Core i7-4790k - 8GB - 120GB SSD + 500GB HDD - HDMI. I'm tempted, could use a speed boost with or without Aranym. It sounds like a good deal. I was expecting that. Will need to switch back to the host for that then. Too bad Netsurf for Atari is not be...

Re: Recommended hardware for Aranym in 2021?

I am not sure to understand well. 350 € is for the CPU only or for a full PC (specs?) ? If it's for the CPU only it's very expensive. You'd better go with the core i3 9350K @ 4.00GHz which is a 4 cores, more powerful per thread and around 170€. If it's for a complete PC that's a reasonable deal depe...

Re: MagicPC on Raspberry Pi 4

IIRC Minpack use Aranym JIT by default. Minpack has x86 JIT or ARM JIT? From what I can see from Minipack archive is that it runs JIT on Windows and Mac only, but Linux X86 ARM and PPC are run in standard mode. Why ? I don't have a clue. AFAIK aranym JIT is also build for ARM and Linux X86 You can ...

Re: MagicPC on Raspberry Pi 4

@Rob : you're right, we are comparing Apples with Bananas. My wrong understanding was that you'd like to run Magic on a RPi, and in this case the best option is using Aranym. @Thorsten. Minipack is from François Le Coat, not me, Beekey and BeePi are more than enough to chew ;-) but IIRC Minpack use ...

Re: Recommended hardware for Aranym in 2021?

I made long time ago a comparison between several X86 CPU (Single thread Passmark) and Aranym JIT Chronos CPU raw power. There is a linear correlation between single thread perf and Chronos (a=1, R2=0.98), which is quite logical based on Thorsten comments. If you want the fastest affordable Aranym P...

You can try EasyAraMint (link in my signature), it's an EasyMint image for Aranym and it comes with a procedure for networking.

Re: MagicPC on Raspberry Pi 4

With GEMBENCH on RPi4, Aranym standard, TOS 4.04, NVDI, videl inside 1280x720x16, vs the same reference as you. - Display : 3704% - CPU : 11013% - Average : 6387% So roughly 3 times faster with Aranym standard vs Magic PC under Wine. Aranym JIT + TOS 4.04 is slower than Aranym standard (counter intu...

Re: BeePi 1.1.b

I don't understand why Aranym crash in such a situation, anyway, I am glad you find a solution. The RPi is not powerful enough to allow Internet browsing of https site, and IIRC Netsurf is no longer maintained for Atari. Highwire works well with http sites only, but there are not a lot of sites stil...

Re: BeePi 1.1.b

No, this is not a known problem. Yesterday I have installed it 2 times without issue. So I doubt this is a bug. This is the md5 of Beepi-1_1_b.img : 4ab722c4c5ddf52c85937477b4da9eb3 I use Raspberry Pi imager to install the disk image. A faulty SD card is very likely. I only use SANDISK like this one...

Re: BeePi 1.1.b

Will you be doing a further BeePi 1.1c as Hatari has just released a new v2.3.0 version? I know, but Nop. I prefer to wait some time to be sure that there is no new bug or incompatibility in Hatari, without prejudice ;-) If it works, don't fix it. May be in the 1.2 together with a TOS setup and a b...

BeePi 1.1.b

Hi, After many trials and errors, the infamous freeze at boot has been fixed. I am still cautious because this bug is tricky ; your feedback will be appreciated. The only drawback, is that boot time is much longer ... but still acceptable ... and you'll have more time to appreciate BeePi logo ;-) Yo...

Re: Networking with MagicPC under Wine?

Nice ! Now I have many questions ;-) Which version of Highwire do you use? I have tried v 0.3.4.b6, it connects to the web, starts to load the site but doesn't show images, even with an offline html file. I have selected in the option "view images" Regarding Magic PC, I have v6.1. Do you know if the...

I agree with you there is something wrong, that's why I have changed recently the download link on my site to a different provider and redo the archive. But in the end it remains a mystery for me. It's now split into 6 files and 7-zipped. Do you still have a problem with this one? https://app.box.co...

Re: Networking with MagicPC under Wine?

Thanks Robv, CAB seems to connect but I haven't found any site compatible. Even neverssl.com doesn't work. So it's difficult to say if I did it right. Anyway, as Litchi is working great under this setup, I have all that I need. I am looking forward to your findings for printing. Vincent, tu rêves ;-)

Re: Networking with MagicPC under Wine?

I am online finally. Litchi works perfectly.
Ping from sting package, doesn't seems to work. Any address private or public will give 100% packages lost, even the host ...
CAB doesn't seem to work neither or I don't have the right OVL too.
