Re: Cubase 2 experts... increase or decrease the velocity of all notes in a part?

Thanks, I will look into that. In the late 80s / early 90s when I used the ST as my main computer (including for MIDI) I used to know all of those small things but they all seem to have vanished from my head now.

The ST is still my main machine for MIDI but I don't do as much of that as I used to.

Cubase 2 experts... increase or decrease the velocity of all notes in a part?

Playing around with Cubase 2 last night, I ran into a situation where I wanted to adjust the actual velocity value of all the notes in a part by the same amount, so, in Grid Edit, I did a 'select all' and then proceeded to adjust the velocity level of one of the selected notes, hoping that the veloc...

Re: Multitrack recorder software (PC) with MIDI time sync?

I had a look at some of the Tracktion documentation, which says that the software can both send and sync to Midi Timecode, but can only send, not receive, Midi Clock. I don't remember if Timecode is something which Cubase ST can handle but it can certainly sync to an external source sending MIDI clo...

Re: Multitrack recorder software (PC) with MIDI time sync?

A real DAW would have infinitely greater functionality than I actually need and would be priced accordingly, not unreasonably so. I can't justify the cost of something like that for what is likely to be a one-off or limited mess about. I think I tried Rosegarden (Linux version) years ago but found i...

Multitrack recorder software (PC) with MIDI time sync?

Let me explain. My introduction to creating electronic music was a Roland SH-101, which as many of you will know is an old school early eighties monotimbral / monophonic analogue synth - strictly one note at a time. Here's a very nice demo of one being used for what they are really good at. - By Mat...

Re: Atari STFM Floppy Not Responding

First thing which occurs to me is that the drives may only be single sided drives and the discs you are trying to boot are double sided. My 1986 UK STFM came with a single sided drive, later replaced with a non-Atari double sided drive. The purpose of the switch would usually be to make the external...

Re: STFM can't read disks, data corrupt, not correct or garbled

Try checking more fundamental things such as the +5V and +12V supply at the connections to the drive when the drive is actually trying to do something. If you can look at them with a scope, so much the better as that will enable you to see any short, sharp drops in voltage which might not be obvious...

Re: Atari STe HSYNC and VSYNC waveforms

Apparently one reason to use a Raspberry Pi as the basis of a converter is that every Pi already comes with an HDMI licence, that is, official permission to use the HDMI interface / protocol which I think has to be paid for at some stage - I guess HDMI is a proprietary format.

Without even trying to understand the circuit in-depth it sounds to me as though the transistor has gone short-circuit from collector to emitter. With power off, and at least two of the three leads of the transistor disconnected from the circuit, what resistance do you see between the collector and ...

Re: ST-E Random Resets

Are any of the ICs in this machine in PLCC sockets? There is an inherent problem with those, the constant 'spring' pressure on the insides of the sockets from the IC pins tends to bow the sides of the sockets slightly outwards over a long time, leading to eventual loss of reliable contact between th...

"Rastari"?

Anyone else noticed this? https://sites.google.com/view/rastari While it is undeniably useful to have Hatari packaged as a ready made Raspberry Pi SD card image I'm not sure it gives quite enough credit to the authors of Hatari. This was brought to my attention by an article in the December 2020 'Li...

A good while ago the ADscsi interface of my Power Computing HDD finally died, but it was the interface, not the drive, which had failed. I did what you are planning to do, bought a PC SCSI card and put it in a desktop computer running Linux, connected the drive from the Atari HDD to it as a secondar...

Re: Cable adapter to use a VGA monitor with Atari 1040 Ste

Apologies if you already know this, but you can't use a VGA monitor as a substitute Atari colour monitor. The ST does output RGB colour but it does so at standard television frame rates which most VGA monitors will not work down to. You can however use a VGA monitor as a substitute Atari MONO monito...

Re: Ultra Satan Driver

You've obviously done your research. My STe also has the "good" DMA IC and I have never had problems using the UltraSatan with it. There are far ranging arguments over whether the 'bad' DMA IC is solely responsible for the DMA problems which some people experience on the STe. More likely it is a com...

Re: Ultra Satan Driver

If it comes with a pre-figured card then surely it already has the ICD PRO driver on it and is ready just to boot. That was certainly the case with the Ultrasatan + card I bought from Lotharek a couple of years ago. If you have the means to do so, make an image backup of the card before you use it b...

Re: Cubase dongle dead - possible to repair?

If the encryption algorithm the creators picked is any good it will be a lot more complicated than just send a certain number to the dongle, expect to see a certain number come back. It does happen, I remember back in the days of Analogue 'Sky' TV in the UK where someone had figured out the correct ...

With due acknowledgement to the author of the original diagram, I have added some detail to it which may make things clearer. I just had a look around and I can't find one off-hand in any of the usual places, which is surprising because the need for such a circuit must arise quite often. Re: Atari SC1224 and RGB Questions

Just to be clear, you are trying to use an RGB SCART source which is NOT an Atari computer with the Atari monitor, which currently has a 13-DIn plug on the end of its video connection lead? The main problem is the difference between sync arrangements - SCART RGB uses composite sync - often in the fo...

Re: 520ST wont run games

Your sig doesn't say where you are. If the TV you are currently using has a SCART socket it will be a worthwhile improvement to make or purchase an RGB lead for the ST so you can connect it that way - much cleaner picture, especially on a CRT TV.

Re: Help setting Hatari up, problems with mouse & joystick

On the original STs, games often booted from disc and once running there was no way to get out of the game except by resetting the machine. So Hatari is very realistic in that sense. To reset the simulated ST provided by Hatari, hit F12 to call up the Hatari menu, and on the first screen you see a '...

Re: MIDI connection gets lost, at exact times.

Quite well, that's what I usually run Cubase 2 into when running Hatari under Linux. I recently used a basic USB-5-DIn midi converter lead with a Raspberry Pi 4 running Cubase 2 under Hatari for about 6-7 hours, and it literally never missed a beat.
