Re: Atari Screensaver for Firebee
I don't care about screensavers anymore. FireBee is too precious to run it without using it. But if one is interested, then it would be interesting to adapt my old RageCalm utilitary. GFA source is provided in the archive , you just have to clean PCI Rage screen on/off, recompile it for v4e. The &q...

Re: Firebee: the long game?
I feel like the time has passed, the technology has aged and what we need now is probably something entirely different - something like a MiniMig, an FPGA solution which extends the Atari hardware system beyond it's old limits, with high resolution 24bit colour, high quality sound... A current 'solu...

Re: CosmosEX with Mint or MagiC
I wonder if would be possible to adopt PiSCSI to ACSI port. Uwe writes about it here: https://www.hddriver.net/en/piscsi_icd.html I see there info about Mega STE ACSI to SCSI adapter. And I mean Pi connected directly to ACSI bus. Hmm, he talks about differences between ACSI and SCSI. Perhaps you co...

Re: CosmosEX with Mint or MagiC
It is really awkward that there is no all around solution for networking on Falcon 060… But CosmoSex would be perfect if it will works under MagiC. There is an excellent solution I keep telling people about: PiSCSI. Nice one! :) I was not aware of this! Thanks! Maybe we should open a thread regardi...

Re: X11 - Gdk-WARNING **: init_bw: failed to allocate colors, falling back to black and white
Maybe a bit late to the party, but what X11-Server are you using, the one from the sparemint archive? I just gave it a try, and could not get it to work. It does not crash, but does not seem to start any programs like the window-manager. I'm using freemint 1.19 (current snapshot) running in aranym....

Re: Enhanced/Improved ST motherboard - H5 Phoenix Project
It's nice to see that you're positive though - I just would not have guessed that otherwise. I'd rather this thread be supportive towards the H5, we're a small community and just putting something down because 'you'd rather have an STe' or 'you'd rather a Falcon' isn't productive. If you think I'm m...

Re: Enhanced/Improved ST motherboard - H5 Phoenix Project
Yeah but you guys @TheNameOfTheGame and @Cyprian are just thinking from a * very * niche viewpoint - the viewpoint of 1. purely a consumer (not taking into account the complex and detailed work required on the business end) and 2. Also the potential for customers to buy such a complex product. Cypri...

Re: Enhanced/Improved ST motherboard - H5 Phoenix Project
It's a very good project and kudos to Exxos for seeing the development through. I own a mainboard but just haven't had time to build it up. As with all things, time is in short supply. It would be nice to see an STE version though. I keep seeing people ask for an STE version though, why do you thin...

Re: Falcon Problem
I have yet to see a machine with bad caps, I have repaired an Acorn Archimedes that had been ravaged by a dead battery but I presume caps aren’t as lethal? All the retro machines have tired and bad caps. The ST/STE/Falcon 030 are no exception to this rule. On these machines, the leak comes always f...

Re: Falcon Problem
frank.lukas says he would only change an electrolytic cap in the event of a fault - but does not specify what he regards a 'fault'. What is a fault? When the cap explodes? When it leaks? of course, if it were that easy we wouldn't have problems. But what when the capacitor loses it's capacity to sto...

You might have accidentally got a tiny bit of solder on one of the legs of the combel, sdma or videl... Check closely. You may need to get a diagnostic cartridge to see exactly the problem. Where is C29 close to?

Re: Enhanced/Improved ST motherboard - H5 Phoenix Project
4 CPU sockets to plug in expansions? Crazy as the (historic) expansions will be larger than the socket space or they are not designed to co-work with other socket expansion boards. The space should better be used to already add sensefull things like TOS 2.06 socket, IDE, autoswitch overscan, PAK, p...

Enhanced/Improved ST motherboard - H5 Phoenix Project
Hi all, For some strange reason there is little to no talk of the following project - the H5 Phoenix motherboard (Atari ST Remake Project) by Exxos. I feel that our community is quite small compared to others (like Amiga for example) And when we are lucky enough to have such projects being worked on...

Perhaps replace the capacitors near that broken trace. Maybe there was some small leakage. (It is strange for a trace to randomly break like that, there must be a cause)
