Re: Freemint with virtual memory (1.14 ?)

Thanks for the brief "history" of the VM in Freemint.
Looks like not really safe to use as it was removed.
I remember using v1.14 on my STFM but apparently does not work for ST.
Now I know.

Re: Freemint with virtual memory (1.14 ?)

I would guess that it would be slow as well. I don't think we need that amount of memory anyway, I don't really know as I am using 512MB on my CT63, and I am not a power user only a casual user. I checked the Changelog in Github and there was still mention of it in the release 1.15 under the subtitl...

Freemint with virtual memory (1.14 ?)

So instead of going OT on another thread ..... The post on gpt4, freemint, virtual memory and a slow day at work prompted me to go find what's really available on virtual memory for freemint. I stumbled upon this fm_vm.jpg FreeMinT 1.14 BETA has virtual memory (on a 68030 computer) which use a dedic...

Re: Thunder Storm IDE/Fastram Interface for Atari TT

I find it very enjoyable to get into some vintage computing on the machines that I've learned to program on and ultimately made me who I am today. Wow... same here. :D When MS Windows boomed in the 90s I was able to start programming it miles a head of the others as I had already done windows GUI e...

If on HDDriver, you mark your CD drives as removeable, will it not do that?
Sorry I have dismantled my CD drive from my Falcon, so I can't test it out.

Re: Atypical bug found on TOS 2.06

Can someone help me understand or correct my understanding..... I thought that the Atari will also do sanity checks every now and then by accessing the floppy to see if it has changed. may be checking the serial number or some other checksum... I dunno. This is the blinking that I see on the floppy ...

Re: Atypical bug found on TOS 2.06

Sorry, I meant brand and type of the floppy drives. Are those the original drives that came with the computer? If they are third-party replacements (be it real floppy drives or a Gotek), they might not report media change correctly. mm... actually on the system that I have problems I have two norma...

Re: NVDI error

POOLFIX was only relevant for TOS 1.04. Yes I am aware. During my development of the PDF writer/printer, I encounter AES running out of memory (specifically when testing in TOS ) and cannot malloc. IIRC, poolfix will replace some memory pool functions with it's own better functions. So no harm if y...

Re: NVDI error

I used the folder option in HDDriver, as well as additional cookie jar spots. Dang, what is pool fix? Been years since seeing that name :) Guess that will work as well especially for you.... as my use case is that I put small numbers in HDdriver as I use Mint FS cache instead. Fold999.prg as it is ...

Re: CTPCI development files released

Well works at least for mine, the original CTPCI for VGA, network and USB- but since my USB card is very shaky when plugged in, I do not use it as it is scary to plug/unplug a usb device. So I use only networking & VGA.

The Atari ST Essential software site is hosted as Google Classical Sites, and they have migrated/moved it to a new Sites. Google has told Sites users about this for many months, may be up to 2 years. I know as I have migrated my site. Theoretically, the old Classical site was migrated. We just need ...
