Anyone know how this demo was released? Maybe a magazine article, cover disk, or appeared on genie back in the day?

Kellis left the Atari scene quite some time ago. The source code is floating around, feel free to debug it.

Re: NeoDesk 4 Icon Disk

I fear so, yes, unless someone finds some description on the file format. Icon Juggler is supposed to be able to load it, but it looks like there are different versions of the format, maybe it was never adapted to newer versions. A quick look also did not reveal something simple, maybe the data is ...

Re: NeoDesk 4 Icon Disk

At the bottom of the page is this paragraph: NeoDesk Icon Disk Here’s a collection of over 500 icons separated into categories for easy viewing. There are multicoloured and monochrome appearances, and many icons have different selected states. Under it is a link to the same installer. Could it be he...

They call it innovation, we call it standard. Still after all these years, you can't click the macOS desktop background to get the Finder windows to come to the foreground, only the menu bar. Eventually this will be some new wiz bang feature at a future keynote. :P

Re: Use a second assembler routine

I assume since it's called from basic it must be pc relative code. In devpac I use 'opt chkpc' to make sure everything is pc relative. So long as you don't clobber a2 it should work. ;)

I don't see why not assuming the second routine ends with RTS. JSR (a2) if memory serves me right.

Well I would not have spotted the "%" versus "&" issue. Not sure what that even implies. The GFA manual also has it's share of quirks. ;)

Re: Pexec in HiSoft Basic anyone?

Not sure what manual you are using, but mine says something about pexec() falling if the calling program doesn't leave the operating system enough free ram to execute the requested program.

Re: Pexec in HiSoft Basic anyone?

Don't know if the command internally adds the required nulls. If the null isn't added it might not see the path correctly. Try adding the null, it shouldn't hurt anything, since the string is passed via address.

Barely used HiSoft, but "FUNCTION" looks out of place, try:
x = pexec(mode, prg$, cmd$, env$)

Re: Float variable

3.6TT version. How to get a variable of type "unsigned long", so that the instance BSET(a,32) does not change the sign of the number? When this bit is changed in float variable, the number is negative. BSET expects integer types. Internally it converts 'a' to an integer, sets the bit, then converts...

Re: PCI for the Atari range

Had a Hades060 for 11 of them 30 years. Probably can count on one hand the number of available drivers. The 4th PCI slot was empty all those years. Two out of the three drivers I did use were created by the same person, who left the scene. The announcement of CTPCI and the FireBee barely impacted th...

Medusa had already stopped accepting repairs and also unable to supply updated chipsets. Mine crapped out around 2/12/2011. All I could get from Fredi was a hand drawn schematic and I consider myself lucky to have gotten that.

Re: GFA-Basic English manuals (PDF)

My manual said 3.0 on the cover, however it had an extra chapter about 3.5, it's even listed in the table of contents.

Trying to sort out what the differences are from 3.5 to 3.6, but never seen a 3.6 manual. Don't suppose any one has 3.6 addendum pages laying around?

GFA Basic Editor v3.70 released

For those not aware, the original author of GFA Basic passed away in 2011. December 9th is Frank Ostrowski's birthday. His brother was kind enough to share that information. To honor Frank's legacy, GBE version 3.70 is officially no longer a beta. The full release can be found at http://gfabasic.net...
