Here is an updated archive, I removed a leftover from Resource Master, added the hypertext REF and source files, and another english hypertext about using Gemscript with Luna (not translated by me).

Yes this is the main released archive!

Here is Luna Text Compiler 1.93 since the link seems dead. And an older one too.

Thanks for the files and link!

Btw, someone over at AtariAge came across some disks and is kindly posting them. It's nice to see more efforts at preservation. Here is the link to check it out: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/32086 ... on-effort/.

Here are John Mcloud's programs that were released with freeware keys on his website years ago. The website is no longer accessible and the web archive copy doesn't seem to have the keys saved. So here are zip files with the programs and the key files included.

JML Snap v5.22
JMLSnap.zip

McBoot v1.03
McBoot.zip

Stewart v1.05
Stewart.zip

I tried to install the CAB2.8 from the original post, I tried to copy the content of DISK 1 and DISK 2 to floppies, I tried to have the two folders on my hard drive, I tried to merge the DATA folder... all I get is the SETUP.PRG asking me the serial number, name and company, then it starts copying to the target location (D:\CAB in my case), the progress bar moves for a while, and then the program quits without any message.

Has anyone managed to install it?

Does anyone have a full version of magicmac?

It isn´t offered on the official page any more. I also contacted them and asked if it still can be bought, but didn´t get any response.

Hi Gaiyan,

you´re absolutely awesome, as is the link with the detailed step by step guide!
Thank you very, very much!

This is perfect as MagicMac is the fastest version as far as I understood and it also supports the screen drivers and acceleration of NVDI.

Best,

Lostboy

P.S.

Jinnee is a really great desktop for the atari, if not the best by the opinion of many users. But it has one annoying limitation, which took me quite some time to figure out. It supports background images, but only in IMG format with 256 colors. So you can´t just download nice ones from the internet and use them, as they are almost always in jpg format.

This wouldn´t be so bad, if Deskpic or similar tools would work under high color resolutions, but I couldn´t find any. All of them don´t work or are limited to 8bit.

So what you first need to do is to convert the images.
For some reason only Gemview works for me. If you convert directly from jpg to img though the results are mediocre. If you convert to TC IMG, the images are looking good, but Jinnee can´t load them. So what you first need to do is to convert the jpgs to gifs (I did this with a tool on the pc) and then convert the gifs to img via Gemview or another programm, which works for you.

This way you will receive a nice looking, modern Desktop using Jinnee.

Even easier: use bmp2ximg by Orion (attached)! Just make sure the source file is a 8 bit (256 colour) bmp image.

This is neat. You still need to convert standard wallpapers to 8Bit-BMPs though. And then from BMP to (X)-Img.
So the steps are not that different.
Still good to have an additional route.

Thank you!

P.S. Very nice backgrounds. :)

Yes but you can do it all on PC which is faster (I forgot to mention bmp2ximg is a TOS and DOS command line tool). Besides, I always have trouble getting a correct IMG file with the usual TOS image programs. Jinnee is a bit temperamental when it comes to it.

Back to the subject: here is Omikron Basic v4. Not the most recent version for sure, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Thanks for sharing
I couldn't find Omikron 4

I used Omikron 3.6 and its compiler to complete programs that can run in .ACC to support Desktop function resolution change

Too bad the SCREEN function is not maintained after Omikron 3.3

You're welcome. Here is v5.9, but it needs a serial that I don't have.

Thanks for the upload! After checking my archives for Stewart, I found version 1.10 beta (german). The key has to be put inside the HOME folder (it's just the one generated with the publicly available registration info).

The roughly translated readme says the new features are:

- For registered users only
- No english version
- New dialogue
- New function "Stewart PopUp
- If it is switched on, Stewart replaces the MagiC PopUp with one of its own.

So basically you have to install v1.05 first, register it or copy the key to the Home folder, then overwrite the exec and rsc with the ones from the beta version.

Quite an enjoyable read that :)
After sending to the recycler my Q900, picked up a Q800AV for the video capture. Bit of a wreck, did get her to cough up a screen, however KB isn't functional. KB is near new (from the day), suspect bad spot on the board, hopefully not an IC job (the Falcon Afterburner takes up all time there).
Have a DiiMo Cach 040-50 really want to get going. If successful, the Milan may have to go, basically the same machine, without Kai's FX within a keystroke:)

If you are interested in MagicMac you can try to grab a Mac Mini G4. They are currently sold for around 30-60 $/€ on ebay or other market places.
With an iso from the internet it´s very easy to install MacOS 9.22 on them, which is the latest MacOS to support MagicMac.
For this little money you get a powerful dedicated atari machine.

But that PPC, correct?

Not tried that version, early on it was said the native 68K code version was faster on a 68K Mac.
Not currently set up. Can tell you 68k benchmarks faster than a 46MHz Afterburner. About 475% CPU of stock Falcon. You can test this.

Tried to install this version, update from V2.X. kept refusing the registration number.
Until actually entering literally "no street" and "no town"
