STeem serial port to PC serial port.

Post by Bikerbob »

Hey all, trying to setup my EMU so that I can do BBSing ... I would like to use an old PC laptop I have to run a bbs.

STeem I really liked because it had in the setup a pass through of the COM port to the COM port of the pc.

This laptop has a comport, that I have attached to a WImodem232 and it works great from the PC.

When I try and use it in STeem. It sees the com port in the setup.. but I cannot get any communication to it. No comm program I have used yet shows me it working.

Is there a way to test?? is this function working? anyone else successfully done this??

I do not have an answer, but I did do a forum search and found the following. They talk about using different programs to route virtual serial ports which might help perhaps.

thanks for the response Stormy.. I did see all those, but those are a bit different than what I am looking to do.. and I thought that mine would be much more straight forward.

I am trying to get the Serial port of the Virtual Atari (SEE or 3.2 STeem) to work with a HARDWARE com port on the PC.

On that com port I have a Wimodem232 - which is a wifi enabled Hayes compatible modem. AKA uses the AT command set.

There is a LCD on the modem.. so I can see that there is a connection, and that I can issue 1 command that it seems to accept, and then locks up.

This happens in both 3.2 and SEE.. SO I guess maybe trying another device on the com port might be a good test..

If it works with Virtual ports then it SHOULD work with real hardware - should be much easier.

If you are looking for technical support for Steem SSE, you should probably use the SourceForge page dedicated to that emulator.
Here is the URL:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/steemsse/
There is a forum there for posting questions. The author does respond, or at least he has in the past.
