Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
I should give an honourable mention to my local dealers, Analogic Computers of Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.
They've been towers of strength over the years, servicing my STE, selling me both of the monitors I've owned over nearly fifteen years as an Atarian and they're still in the Atari game. They even service those who prefer 'the dark side' A**** machines as well as Macs and PCs. Have a butcher's at their site on http://www.analogic.co.uk/.

£235 for an Atari ST .. hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - digging up bits from my past: Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide). I host a C64 Radio Show for a mate, Max Hall, called the Chip SID Show.

Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Stonking isn't it? I recall visiting a local music store a few years ago to see if they fancied buying my spare STFM but the bloke there just pointed to one of those wire bargain bins which contained about five Ataris for about a tenner each! Are we to assume that, because they're now 'vintage' bits of kit, their value has increased somewhat?
Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
We're seeing what happens when something gets not rare, but rare enough to attract shady profiteers.
They don't realise that the gear just isn't worth enough to make a quick buck on. Twats!

Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
I don't think it's profiteering (at least by them). They've probably got a few brand new, boxed Atari 520STE's that they had to pay loads for 20 odd years ago. They're probably priced that high so they can get some of their outlay back again. It's the same with Best Electronics and a few other remaining Atari shops.
Only thing is, is that even if a BNIB 520STE came up on Ebay, no-one would pay that much money for one. It might fetch a hundred quid from the staunch collectors but no more. £235 for one of those nowadays is unrealistic.

Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Maybe not. Analogic have been selling Atari gear for very many years. I've got an STFM upgraded by them many years ago - nice looking job if I recall. You can find their ads in the old ST magazines. Some of their prices may just be the prices they used to charge for these items - like the memory upgrades for example? System Solutions used to do this - they just kept their prices for items in stock more or less what they used to be for years ...... and years. Meanwhile prices for second hand Atari gear tumbled and System Solution prices started to look like a ripp off. Anyone remember 4 MB upgrades for £99? Just for the memory .. ... or should that be thanks for the memory.Desty wrote:We're seeing what happens when something gets not rare, but rare enough to attract shady profiteers.

Indeed, I hadn't thought about companies that actually had new stock in storage for decades... but I doubt that every one of these companies has sat on a warehouse of new STs for twenty years! I'd expect some are 'refurbished' and picked up a 200+ quid pricetag on the way.

Good to know they do repairs and are fairly local to me. Probably expensive but if i'm desperate.........
Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
St. Albans is a fair step around the M25 though! I'm not sure if Analogic's email is working as they've not answered the two mails I've sent them in the last week. Ho hum.

Just a heads up, Analogic are selling CD32 floppy drives on Ebay right now so I would assume they are still trading.
FYI, their STs are REFURBS, not NOS. They even state it on their site.
Shame, I'd definitely pay £200 for a brand new ST (though more likely for a 520 FM).

Nick still sells stuff via eBay and he'll most definitely be at the next Jagfest UK in Luton with his tables of goodies. From memory his eBay nick is 'laughingbhuddanick' or very similar.alanh wrote:Looks like 16/32 has gone belly up now......

Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Just to clarify, 16/32 are still trading, contrary to what was posted here earlier.
The webshop is now at http://sales1632.myzen.co.uk/acatalog/
Nick is working hard to get things back on track again and as Mug UK said, he will be at Jagfest this year, in Luton.
Cheers,
Rich

Re: WHERE TO BUY ST / FALCON / TT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Anybody have driver for Atari Mega to make a Dell 1710n printer work?
Found one in the local dump . Probably tipped because it is B/W only. (Scavenging rights A$10). Goes perfectly with my PC, narurally, but works V slowly, for Mega (no multiple page data transfer), using any of several embedded Atari drivers.
