Re: RIP Bod/Stax
Good evening everyone.
He was 41 years old which is no age to be honest.
He did have some troubles but at the moment we don't think they contributed to his untimely passing.
We should find out in the next couple of days what actually happened to him.
I would just like to take this moment and say thank you to everyone who has showed support to him and his family. I've never been into all this Atari stuff but I know that he loved it. Even though it done his head in at times.
Especially that r-type game lol.

Mark, thanks a lot for taking the time at this very difficult time for you to post here. I'm extremely sorry for your loss, 41 is a young age
I didn't know Bod personally but for what it's worth, to me on the other side of the world, he has been someone I very much admired over the years. It seems like forever, before this forum was even made, that he has been a knowledgeable, positive guy who made cool contributions to the Atari scene. He will be greatly missed.

Re: RIP Bod/Stax
Sad to read about the loss of what seemed to be a dear forum member in a close community... I've been involved in another forum (flight simulation stuff), where a much admired, very respected and very active member passed away suddenly. It came as a shock and at the time I felt an immense personal loss (had exchanged several messages with him and he was really nice and always friendly) like I had lost someone "I knew", until I realised that, yes, I *knew* him. Maybe not all of him with maybe just bare knowledge of day to day stuff, but knew him intimately in something that was a very big part of his life. Not only did he enjoy the complexities of extreme flight simulation, he helped the developers make the software better and gave back to the community endless hours helping strangers with the same passion he had. Flying bad-as* airplanes in the most realistic and authentic way possible.
In the end I ended up making a bridge between that community, the family of the member and the software developers so that a little homage was present in the software update.
I remember posts and guides from techie-Alison, that are still here, preserved "forever" in this forum.
Maybe an Atari hall of fame could help memorialise pillars of our community...
I know I didn't post much for some time also because I didn't have any Atari that needed help from the community, but honest to whatever God there may be, even at the end of many cr****y days, there were emails to read of new threads in the forums. Sometimes I would follow an interesting topic for days or ask for notifications because there is so much interesting things going on.
Sometimes I didn't have time to even check some of the topics posted but it was nice the receive regular news from something I enjoy so much. Even my girlfriend went on a quest to find her Atari 2600 console she used as a kid...
So yes, we're also here. A big part of us is here and whether it's flight simulation or great computers, there are great people out there who won't give us the "insane" look because you're happy like a little boy sorting through dozens of floppy disks trying to find one that works when she can't even remember the last time she used one!
So yeah... People here get to see a side of me even my closest friends know that exists but don't *really* understand it...
Not like some people here
So may you be on top of Fuji mountain, Bod/Stax...

On behalf of My Parents, I'd like to inform all Family, Friends & Neighbours of My brother - Stephen Jones aka BOD, that his Cremation is to be held on Friday 29th July, 1.00pm at Powke Lane Crematorium followed by refreshments at the Stag & Three Horseshoes.
For those wishing to attend, we ask for family flowers only and any donations greatly received will be given to a Animal Charity close to Stephens heart.

Re: RIP Bod/Stax
I just saw this post, as I was looking for some info on R-Type Deluxe, I am including it in a video I am making about ST shooters. Sad news indeed! RIP Bod!
My thoughts go out to his family and friends!
I will include the sad news in the video and of course also include a link to the game, so as many as possible can enjoy his amazing work!

Re: RIP Bod/Stax
I attended the service today and It was an excellent send off for Bod.
His Atari work was mentioned fully by the lady doing the service. Whilst the reflection time was happening, his favourite band (Metallica) was playing with Nothing Else Matters. After the delivery was over, the curtain was drawn to the sound of the Bod theme tune - which brought a few smiles to the congregation.
I got to meet and talk to his family afterwards as well.
