Direct3D Issues with 3.8.2

Post by Foebane »

Steem SSE 3.8.2
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
tos162uk.rom
Steem.ini for 3.8.2: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5CK- ... kRIZlRmd0k
Steem.ini for 3.8.1: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hhram60btnycv ... m.ini?dl=0

I have problems running 3.8.2 in fullscreen with this configuration, like when I start Steem, the screen remains black until I press Pause/Break, when GEM appears. I also notice that when closing the Disk Manager or Options or the other dialogs, the screen is not refreshed so they remain. There is also graphical corruption in the ST display when switching between fullscreen and window. It is difficult to use Options or Disk Manager with the fullscreen GUI option ticked, and when I decided to use the GUI in the window, I had to assign a shortcut for fullscreen.

At least one STE demo has been affected (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=59066) - sometimes when I run the demo, at 02:34 (refer to the video) when the spotty rotating cubes appear, there is some flickering yellow interference, but not always. However, at 03:30 when the titles and gallery appears, there is an ugly white line near the bottom of the screen that isn't there in previous versions of Steem, and is erased when the screen is switched to windowed then back to fullscreen - redraw issue, maybe?

I include the configuration for the older 3.8.1, as I had no problems then, and the demo mentioned above worked fine, no glitches.

What could be the problem?

Fullscreen GUI will not work on all systems, it's very mysterious and that's why it's optional. You should just untick the option, it works fine without. You go fullscreen by clicking on the 'maximise' button, and go window by stopping emulation (shortcut or F12).

Bug confirmed.
That's a different issue, in v3.8.2 I added a safety by which Steem doesn't render video if the end of ST memory is reached.
The bug was < instead of <=.
Good find!
In the CIA we learned that ST ruled
