Border removal in STOS part 2: the STE files

Post by thomas3 »

Hey all,

It's been far too long since anyone has posted on this forum, so here's something some of you might find interesting.

I had a go at implementing the 16 pixel left border STE-only overscan method (discussed elsewhere on the forum) in STOS. It works! And it is as easy as anything.

Find attached a source. All this example does is write a one bitplane, 16 pixel-wide message in the left border. You'll need the Missing Link extension for this (as well as the latest version of STOS from exxos's website - this is STE only, remember?), but this is just because I've used the kopy command through laziness. The actual overscan routine is pure STOS, and doesn't use any STE extensions or commands.

Top border next :D

Tom.

Amazing work Thomas! Could be nice for a 16 pixel vertical scroller for a menu.
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM (x2), 2.5Mb STF, Atari 2600JR, Flashback 8 Gold.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

Yeah! I've been messing around some more - attached are a couple of examples of different ways that you could do a vert scroller in the border... one of them is a 50hz twist scroll effect (runs this speed in the interpreter, of course  )
