John Carmack's code
i read in Masters of doom that Carmack came up with a code routine called adaptive refresh for Dangerous Dave. for those more familiar with Apple II, Apple IIe programming, what was the code? is there an equivalent for c or Java?

Re: John Carmack's code
I don't know where Apple II fits in but it seems like an EGA-specific hack: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_tile_refresh
Re: John Carmack's code
I thought the code was used only on PC's (or at least anything with EGA hardware)
The code was used in the PC version of the Apple II game Dangerous Dave if I remember rightly and was also used in their Mario Demo - later to be used in Commander Keen.... the rest as they say is (ID games) history
