Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
5.5 hours from Stockport. It's a possibility if I make it a long weekend.
Main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - digging up bits from my past: Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide). I host a C64 Radio Show for a mate, Max Hall, called the Chip SID Show.
I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in for Word 2007 upwards. A toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Yeah I'll be coming from the west midlands, will definitely be booking a cheap hotel to stay over night. Be nice to have a few beers with the guys after the event etc.

Is there a ferry from Southampton across to where the event is being held? Vague memories of there being something like the one that goes across the Mersey for a few quid?
I looked at flights (pure lazyitis) and I'll give that a miss as they all want to go via another country and cost up to £1000!

Hi @muguk!
To answer your question, yes there is.
Theres the Hythe ferry from Southampton to Hythe (via the Red Funnel company who also do the IOW trips).
This takes you to the Hythe ferry terminal (after taking the free Victorian style train from the end of the pier to land!).
From stepping off the train/tram, its 5 mins walk to the hall.
HTH. Would be great if you could make it.
EDIT: Also, regarding staying over; this is a great spot, with sea on one side and the New Forest national park on the other. Its a great place to relax.

Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
This is just a reminder that attending the event requires registering (for free, of course).
With that in mind, I would also like to ask a big favour;
If you are able to, would it be possible to register for the event as soon as you are able?
I have to arrange exhibitors (table space, availability, etc) and also process any attendees (name tickets, etc) to get an idea of numbers.
I know Im being a pain, but it would really help if you are able to do this.
If it IS an inconvenience to do this then no worries. Its quite alright if you cant. Thanks for attending anyway!
Registration is free and easy here: https://cyberlegends.eventbrite.co.uk/
Thank you for your help and support.

Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
I've registered but as I was trying to buy tickets for the train down on the Friday, I noticed that it was a bus service coming back on the Sunday!
So if I am attending, then I need to factor in an extra night in a Southampton hotel and come back on the Monday instead.
I'll first need to check with work if I'm going to be needed on those days (Friday/Monday) to see if it's too near to the launch date of the project I'm on, before committing to attending.

Unfotunately I'm double-booked now that weekend, so that's a spare ticket that can be used by someone else.

Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
Looking forward to it, making a weekend of it, 2 nights staying in Hythe town especially with the New Forest next door.
Dragging the wife and my little one there, she loves 'old' games, Gauntlet being her favourite on the ST but Atari Golf on 2600 is a close 2nd, the wife not so much!
I very much doubt they will stay as long as I will but hope to be there shortly after it opens at 2.30pm, I presume we can come and go from the venue as i'm sure some exhibiters will come later in the day?

Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
Sounds good jd. Funnily enough my 7 yr old daughter asked if she could have my Mega STE in her room to do work and play games on!!
I offered her my STE and a flast screen and she said no she prefers the Mega STE
I trust you've booked all a (free) ticket on the Cyber Legends event page? Other than that I think everyone can come and go.
Quite a few are aiming for the 2.30pm but quite a few are travelling from afar.
It should be a good day though, so looking forward to it.

Thats great news jd! I hope you enjoy the show. To answer your question, I will be issuing name badges. As long as you have these (and if I dont memorize your faces) then you are free to come and go.jd wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:07 pm Looking forward to it, making a weekend of it, 2 nights staying in Hythe town especially with the New Forest next door.

I see you live where I grew up. I used to go to Field End School in South Ruislip when I was a young lad. Moved from there to a little village in the New Forest. Was a bit of a shock to the system!

Anyway, let me know if theres anything I can help with.

Think yourselves lucky...my boys make a beeline straight to the Falcon (and Joskas version of Abbaye de Morts!)

Re: ++Cyber Legends Retro Computer event Sat. 24th Sept++
No way, what a small world, I used to live just the other side of the Field End school and went to Saint Swithun Wells, lots of sports events organised between these schools if i remember correctly so we have probably already crossed paths in our previous lives!!mrbombermillzy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 10:07 pm
